The Spanish side have now lost two matches in a row after beating Barcelona 2-1 at the Nou Camp on Saturday and drew with Atletico Madrid 2-2 in Madrid last weekend.
They are currently top of La Liga after the break with seven points from six games.
“It was a difficult game, a difficult season, but we won and we played with great passion,” said coach Sergio Rios.
“We were not able to make any big chances in the first half and we had a tough game.”
It was the second consecutive game for Espana that they lost.
After the first leg, they suffered a 1,000-plus-degree heat wave at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, forcing coach Pablo Vidal to call time on his side.
